Policy and Communications

This Center manages the voice of the Johnson Institute and collaborates with other stakeholders regarding addiction disease in our society. In 2004, the testimony by JI President Johnny Allem before the Institute of Medicine provided a concise, targeted policy statement that has helped to provide focus for the voices and actions of the addiction recovery field.

Policy Center Projects and Initiatives

Since 1995, the Johnson Institute has hosted an exchange forum for leaders of organizations with a stake in addiction recovery and related issues. The Forum now meets at the National Press Club in Washington each Spring and Fall. More than eighty organizations (government and private) send representatives each session to hear key presentations on science, policy, practice, and advocacy.
